In Brief:
The Jabra Evolve 65 has been hugely popular over its lifetime, renowned as a value entry point Bluetooth headset for computer (via dongle – USB-A only) and mobile (via Bluetooth). Whilst other headsets in the Evolve2 range have greater durability, perform better and have some sexier features, this should still be considered if you’re on a tight budget,  It features an online indicator light and NFC pairing, up to 10-hour Bluetooth battery life. NB Dongle is not compatible with USB desk phones.
Launch Date – September 2014
Variants:
Select from stereo or mono options. Stereo variants provide dual ear cups, delivering an immersive experience for calls and music, whereas mono options keep one ear open for conversations. Additionally, UC versions are for all platforms and still work with Teams. MS Teams versions are if you use MOSTLY Teams (otherwise the Teams button will keep trying to talk to Teams, rather than your softphone which is just annoying!)Â All the stand does is charge the headset, the non-stand version has a cable to facilitate charging.
What We Love:
- Great entry point for those looking to move away from a corded headset
- Longer microphone so better than some at blocking out backgrond noise for your caller
- Versatile options with mono, stereo, UC, and MS Teams versions to cater to your preferences.
- Comfortable wide headband and integrated microphone boom for a stylish and practical look.
- Convenient online indicator light to signal when you’re on a call.
- Compatibility with major softphones, and certifications from Cisco, Avaya, and Microsoft.
- DSP technology for music optimisation, echo suppression, and wideband Hi-Fi sound.
- Can be worn with the microphone on either side (for mono variant, this means the earcup too)
What We Don’t Love:
- Busy light is small and only on front of earcup (colleagues behind you can’t see it)
- No lift microphone to mute function – you’ll need to press mute on PC or fumble for the button on the headset
- No option for active noise cancelling in the earcupsÂ
- No USB-C dongle version available
In Detail:
Product Update 2022. The ‘SE’ version is the same as the old version but now comes with the Link 380 dongle. Working in the exact same way as the non SE model .
The Jabra Evolve 65 is a unique headset. It comes with a Bluetooth USB dongle so you can connect to your PC and also use the BT in the headset to connect directly to a mobile or tablet. Available in mono, stereo and Microsoft Lync & Skype for Business versions. Microsoft support this headset for use with S4B/Teams if you run into difficulty and also it will show your fellow S4B users your availability status when on or off a call.
With a comfort fit wide headband, microphone boom that integrates into the headband (so you don’t look like a ninny when wearing them on the way to work) and a soft pouch to protect your new favourite accessory, you’ll want to take these everywhere with you. If you travel for work and also make calls and video conference while you’re away, the Evolve 65s will take care you in every scenario.
There’s a convenient online indicator light built into the headset so that colleagues will know when you’re busy on a call. If your phone has NFC just tap the Evolve 65 to the phone to pair them
The Evolve 65 is Bluetooth and has a USB dongle. You use the dongle to connect to a PC or laptop then the headset can still maintain a Bluetooth connection to a mobile phone or tablet. The Bluetooth has a 10 hour battery life. When connected via the dongle you can wander up to 30m from your computer (up to 10m from your mobile phone).
As you’d expect this headset from Jabra is suitable for use with all major softphones. It’s also Certified by Cisco, Avaya and Microsoft. It has DSP to optimise music and suppress echoes and has wideband Hi-Fi sound.
NB operation to skip a track works on mobile only, not via PC.
