EPOS|Sennheiser IMPACT DW Office PHONE Wireless Headset (DW10PH)
The Sennheiser DW Office Phone Wireless Headset (aka the DW10PH) is an excellent quality headset for your desk phone (only). It has a standard noise cancelling microphone and a comfortable headband mono wearing style + an earhook style in the boxas well as an ultra-stylish cube based unit. In the words of Tina Turner, the latest Sennheiser DW Pro 1 Phone Wireless Headset is ‘simply the best’; if you believe that quality is king, this is the headset for you. You will see several DW models on our website that all look the same – it’s important to note that this particular model works with your desk phone only, whilst the original connects to both your desk phone AND your computer.
What is EPOS? EPOS is the new co-branded name for Sennheiser.
As a company we’re proud to be able to offer the full DW range to our clients and we challenge anyone to find a better headset range. Plantronics had dominated the market for such a long time but you can certainly argue that with the DW range, Sennheiser is the new heavyweight champion of the wireless headset world. The headphone and microphone gurus at Sennheiser have used their 60 years of audio experience and R&D to create headset perfection. As we always say, the golden rule of headsets is to buy the best you can afford and, we hope your boss has given you the ok to buy any model in the new DW range.
If you’re looking to answer calls away from your desk you’ll need an or an Electronic Hook Switch, depending on the phone you have (call our staff for assistance). The HSL10 fits on your telephone base and lifts the hand piece up or down when you push a button on your headset, letting you answer and hang up calls from anywhere in the office. The Sennheiser lifter is unique, in that it can be programmed to recognise 2 different ringtones and alert you accordingly, so you don’t have to launch into your company spiel for internal calls. A handset lifter for this headset is available separately, or as a great value pack.
So let’s start by reviewing the DW Office Phone
The Good
It’s not so much ‘the good’ in this instance as ‘the great’. We may sound biased but the Simply Headsets staff can choose to use any headset they want, and since its release, more than 90% of our team use Sennheisers, the rest we suspect must have been too busy so far to change!. That said, we challenge you to find a better sounding, faster charging, more intelligent, feature-packed headset – because we know you can’t.
To start off, the HD voice clarity of the DW Office is brilliant. If you’re on the phone all day you’ll know that the clearer the sound, the longer you can listen. HD is like 3D for your ears! The best possible quality sound will give the best impression of your business, it will leave your staff less fatigued at the end of the day and, as a result, less likely to call in sick or be less patient with clients.
The range is up to a staggering 180 metred. The durable style is tailor-made for call centres and other environments where people treat headsets badly (often because they didn’t have to pay for them). It’s very comfortable and, of course, can be worn all day.
How about this for clever: if you’re training someone, all you need to do is get yourself any model from the DW range. Simply place the headset to the base and it automatically conferences both headsets to the call. The same feature also works if you have multiple users sharing the same phone (eg. sharing a reception desk). When one user is finished they dock their headset and put it on charge, while the other simply starts their shift by ‘touching’ their headset to the base, which automatically pairs the two devices. This is simply brilliant for medical offices, hot desk situations and any other job that involves sharing duties, because no-one really wants to share a headset! The headset even comes with a little name tag area, so you always know which one is yours. If the desk is in use constantly, call us to discuss the best way to keep the batteries charged up..
The super fast charge is SO handy when (not if) you forget to dock it overnight. Most headsets take an hour or more to charge to 50% but with a DW in just 20 minutes you’ll have enough battery to see you up to lunchtime. The Office has a 12-hour talk time (or 8 hours on high quality wideband), so even the heaviest user won’t run out of juice. Like the vast majority of Sennheiser products, this headset features ActiveGuard technology to make it G616-compliant. G616 is an Australian OH&S guideline created to protect phone users from loud, potentially harmful noises. These ‘acoustic shocks’ are transmitted down phone lines as a result of electricity spikes, weather conditions, transmission faults and the like. Failure to comply with G616 guidelines can result in fatigue, anxiety or temporary/permanent hearing loss, but Sennheiser’s ActiveGuard means you’ll be protected whenever you are using your headset.
The Not-So-Good
There is very little negative to say about this product. Do note that whilst the DW10 has the 2 wearing styles in the box, it doesn’t have the ULTRA noise cancelling microphone of the DW20PH (DW Pro 1 Phone). As with most things in life, if you want to get the most from this headset you’ll need to fully read the instruction manual. But don’t worry, it’s straightforward and easy to understand and our friendly staff are just a phone call away. The DW Office Phone only works with a desk phone (as it name suggests) – but fear not there is a model that also connects to a PC – the original .
The Verdict
The Sennheiser DW Office Phone is an almost unbeatable headset to use with just your desk phone. The only reason you would upgrade to the is if you want a headband wearing style and are in a noisy office. The only real downside to this product is we know not every boss will spend just a little more to buy this productivity enhancing, brilliant headset. We hope that’s not the case for you.
