The IMPACT D Series from EPOS|Sennheiser is their wireless DECT Headset with a base unit for a single device such as desk phone or PC. The D10II models replace the hugely popular D10s with a very slightly different look but the same specifications. D30s have been added to extend the range to include a duo wearing style option ie 2 earcups.

As it’s name suggests, the D30 Phone connects to a desk phone only. It comes with a duo-wearing style headband. Being a DECT unit it gives the best range, allowing you to wander 55-70m in a typical office (up to 180m line of sight).

DW Pro 2vs D 30s – what’s different

For all those that loved their DW Pro 2 and are now looking for more, the goods news is that very little has changed! The specs are the same and the headset design is almost identical. The base unit is quite different but the function is essentially the same and the new base has an improved magnetised charging connection. Batteries and ear cushions are the same as for the DW and D 30.

 

Call Control –  You need to know this if you’re new to wireless headsets

As with all wireless headsets, if you want to answer calls when away from your desk (ie without pressing a button on the telephone), you’ll need an HSL10 handset lifter or an Electronic Hook Switch, depending on the phone you have (call our staff for assistance). It seems crazy for such modern headsets not to be able to pick up calls but there are so many different model telepehones with different programming and requirements that this functionality cannot be programmed into headsets. It’s the same for all phones and all DECT wireless headsets.

Digging a little deeper

Stereo style headsets are perfect for a noisy work environment or if you just need to stay focussed and ignore what’s going on around you.  Additionally the D 30 headsets have an ULTRA nmoise cancelling mic, so your clients won’t hear the general noise around you. DWs have long had a reputation for one of the best noise cancelling microphones on the market and this headset maintains the status quo.

Sound quality is just as you’d expect from it’s Sennheiser pedigree and really this is crucial if you’re on calls all day. With a quality headset you’ll have better customer interactions and find yourself less fatigued at the end of the day.  

When you’ve forgotten to put the charge on the base to charge overnight, just 20 minutes charge will see you right up to lunchtime (otherheadsts can take 1-2hours to acheive the same). Long day? Don’t stress (at least not about your headset) a full battery gives you 8-12 hours of charge.

Training a newbie up? You can role model the perfect call with up to 3 people at a time without all crowding around. When a manager needs to monitor calls,  there’s no need for them to make you nervous sitting right next to you. They can just pair their headset to your base then go back to their desk to listen in.

If you need a simple , stereo style headset to just work with your desk phone, you really can’t do much better than a D30 Phone II. If you colleagues who prefer a mono style,  you can all have the same base unit with the D10 II.
