EPOS ADAPT 160 **USB-C** II Corded Headset
Essential Info
Launch Date March 2021
The ADAPT 1×0 Series are a corded USB only headset. Simple plug and play USB functionality.
This variant is is a Stereo (2 ear), it has the smaller USB-C connection only. Please check your PC/Mac/laptop has a USB-C port available. This is the UC version.
What is EPOS? EPOS is the new co-branded name for Sennheiser.
The EPOS Adapt 100 series replaces the Sennheiser SC100s. eg SC 130, SC 135, SC 160, SC 165.
There are about 23 different variants of this headset so it can be tricky to figure out which is which. Firstly – lt if it starts 13_ its a mono headset – ie with 1 earcup, if 16_ is a 2 eared headset with, you guessed it … 2 earcups. A T in the name eg 160T indicates MS Teams certification. Then there’s standard USB (USB-A) or USB-C, versions, with or without a mobile connections and variants with JUST a mobile connection and no USB of any description. BUT FEAR NOT! We’re not called Simply Headsets for nothing – we’ve grouped them for you by connection type.
You’re welcome and we love you too.

Certification explanations –Â MS Teams (-M) vs UC
Teams Certified. Functionality can depend on how you use Teams and the package you have but in general a Teams certified headset will allow you some shortcuts into Teams and its functions and potentially some Teams alert notifications. If you don’t use it with Teams, it will work as a UC headset with 99.9% of applications but won’t be certified for those softphones.
UC stands for ‘Unified Communications’ , essentially that just means its not certifed for Teams but is certified for other things. It will still work with Teams, giving you audio, you just won’t get those shortcuts or notifications) and, like the MS version can be used with other softphones and applications. Standard (or ‘UC’) versions are certified for use with leading UC platforms such as 3CX, Snom, Unify, Yealink, Cisco, Citrix, Innovaphone, Audiocodes, Genesys, Avaya Dev Connect, BlueJeans, Zoom (& more!) and will work with any application regardless.

Digging a little deeper
Comfort – The ADAPT100 series headsets have a unique look to them. The microphone boom hides discreetly behind the headband when not in use. The 130 and 160 variants come with acoustic foam ear pads (you can get leatherette covers as an accessory, check out the accessory tab to the right), which are larger oval shape (they don’t cover your ear but at 6cm x 7.5cm they are a bit bigger than average).
The headband has a little padding in it – not a huge amount so you won’t overheat on warm days (I’m talking to Queenslanders here – our pain is REAL.) For the mono version, the headpad stopper thingy is angled in such a way that you won’t pull out clumps of hear when you take the headset off. NB From customer feedback; if you have a particularly large or small head, this may not be the best choice for you.
Larisa in our office tested them out and has officially rated them ‘ace’ for comfort. The earcups also fold flat for convenient storage or travel and All ADAPTs come with a fairly minimalist drawstring nylon bag.
Control – The integrated control panel allows you to adjust volume and mute yourself. Depending on the softphone you’re using you may also be able to answer calls with his panel (if not, then it’s usually a simple mouse click).
Quality – As you’d expect from EPOS , the HD quality sound is great for voice and music. The microphone has noise cancelling to block out most of the noise around you for the person on the other end of the call so your most valuable client won’t hear the office clown doing his (or her!) ‘hilarious’ impression of the boss. The mic boom is bendable so you can get perfect positioning; 2-3cm from the corner of your lips.
Â
In short – The ADAPT 100s are definately a top pick for good quality business level communication that won’t break the budget. They look swish and have all the features you need for a simple USB headset.
